I Know that My Redeemer Lives
This meditation is based on a passage for September 3, 2010 in the Daily Lectionary Year 2 from the Book of Common Worship for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (1993).
Text: Job 19:1-7, 14-27
Reflection and Question: Satan and Job’s wife both expect Job to curse God for the suffering inflicted upon him. Job’s friends expect him to repent for his sin that, they say, has brought this punishment to him. But Job will have none of any of this. He asks, “How long?” He asks for pity. He tells the story. Though he says he has lost hope, he has not; the climactic verses of this passage prove it. Set to immortal music by Handel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtU1c5JZf0k&feature=fvw), Job gets his wish that his words will remain forever. How do you know, like Job, that your Redeemer lives?
